Jetski fury following claims

JET skiers have reacted with a torrent of fury in the wake of a flashing incident at Kinnego Marina.

Last week the 'MAIL' reported on an eye witness account of a man who bared all in front of parents and their children.

The witness said the man was riding around the bay - something which is forbidden under council regulations - when he performed a turn causing a wave to splash children playing on the shore.

The witness said a number of irate parents confronted the man and he retaliated by 'flashing' them, in front of their children.

A regular jet skier said he and his friends were furious over the incident, he said: "I was out on the ski that same day when this happened.

"And after it was in the Lurgan Mail people have been ringing me up asking if it was me - it was a total disgrace."

The local, who asked not to be named, said he and his friends would regularly take their jet ski out on the lough, he went on: "We pay for all the equipment and have our skis properly registered at the marina.

"You're only allowed to do one mile an hour in the bay - it's only to be used to launch or get out of the water. The guys who were down that weekend were just reckless."

He went on: "They had been drinking all day and were not even wearing life jackets, I'm surprised no one was actually hurt.

"We saw them lifting their skis over the bollards, and one of them was even lowered into the water by a black taxi - that's how bad it was."

The man continued: "We have a great resource with the lough right on our doorstep.

"And all the staff at the marina work really hard to provide an excellent facility.

"But these people, who are not from the area show up on good days and end up near killing someone.

"They are going to ruin it for everyone and we won't be allowed to use the bay, like when they stopped us using the lakes.

"That can't be allowed to happen."

He concluded: "We are in the lough no matter what the weather, jet-skiing is our thing. We look after the skis and have all the right gear - we invest money and time to make sure we are save and so are those around us.

"These guys have no regard for anyone whatsoever, it is very dangerous and they need to be stopped."

The council has taken a hard line with those that disregard the regulations in Kinnego bay. A man has been banned after he was abusive to staff.
