Jetskier rescued at Portstewart

The busy summer continues for Portrush Lifeboat Station.

The All-weatherLifeboat (ALB) was launched on Sunday to reports of a jetski in difficulty in Portstewart.

The RNLI Lifeguards were called to assist the jetski but because of the large sea swell advised The Coastguard (HMCG) to request the launch of Portrush Lifeboat to assist.

The ALB launched at 6pm and quickly arrived on scene.

The volunteer lifeboat crew passed the towrope to the RNLI lifeguards who then attached it to the jetski.

The ALB crew then transferred the casualty onto the Lifeboat and commenced the tow back to Portrush Harbour.

The Lifeguards then resumed operational duty on Portstewart Strand.

Robin Cardwell Lifeboat Operations Manager said: “This is another great example of the RNLI services working together on the North coast, and being able to put our training to good use.

“The casualty was unharmed and the ALB returned to her moorings ready for the next shout.
