Jim Kelly Butchers to sell champion produce

JIM Kelly butchers in Eglinton have just secured a deal to supply some of the most coveted beef products in Ireland.

The shop which opened on Main Street, Eglinton, in June 2009 has struck a deal with award winning farmer, Oliver McGuinness, also of Eglinton.

Mr Kelly, who has been in the meat trade almost two decades was delighted to have secured the prize winning beef: “We pride ourselves on sourcing all our products locally and to secure beef of this quality is great news for us and our customers. It continues the strength to strength nature of our business.

“In fact I would say we have just struck a deal to supply what is arguably the best beef in the country at very competitive rates.”

The heifer and bull from which the beef originate are both national show winners. The bull has won the Champion Bull Derby in Castlewellan, the Belgium Blue Champion 2009 and the overall balmoral Champion. The heifer is also a 2007 junuior champion of the balmoral show.

The meat is then prepared in the traditional manner and dry hung for at least 21 days.

“All of our meats come from farms in the North West,” said Jim. “The fact that this top quality product is reared in Eglinton also is great news for the local economy and consumers.

“We can source all our products to the farm, they are fully traceable. Our pork comes from Grants and our chickens from Manor Farm. This deal adds to what is already an astronomical range of produce on offer. That range includes a great range of ready means which are all prepared in store.”
