An interment and memorial service will be held at 12noon this Saturday, March 12, at Drumlee Presbyterian Church, Ballyward.

Jim has been described as a much-loved husband to Marion and adored father to Margaret, Evelyn and Elizabeth, father-in-law to Steven and Colin and treasured papa to Lucy, Jack and David.

Born in Clanmaghery, Ballyward in 1945, son to James and Eva Macauley and brother to Robert (all deceased), Jim attended Gargory and Ballyward Primary School as a young child.

However, when he was seven years old the family relocated to Scotland in search of work and a better life.

James Senior started his civil engineering company, with sons Jim and Robert joining upon leaving school.

Jim married Marion in 1966 and the couple were blessed in their marriage not only by their three daughters, Margaret, Evelyn and Elizabeth, but, in later years, three grandchildren, Lucy, Jack and David.

Jim and Marion started the ever-growing company Cadzow Heavy Haulage Ltd in 1973 .

With the constant support of his wife and three daughters, Jim saw it evolve to the point today where it is recogised as one of Britain’s most respected heavy haulage outfits.

Many of Jim’s in-house designs have gone on to be adapted by other specialist contractors and indeed by the commercial vehicle manufacturers themselves.

Jim was recognized within the industry in 2014 .

It was then that he received the Industry Lifetime Achievement Award, which was a proud moment for all the family.

Jim loved Northern Ireland and returned home regularly, as he would call it.

He had a great love for Ballyward and the surrounding area, as he had so many memories there.

He had a great interest in steam engines; Jim and his cousin would spend many hours ‘tubing round Ireland’, as they would call it.

Jim’s funeral took place on February 20 at Cadzow Parish Church in Hamilton, Scotland, then to Daldowie Crematorium, where the Rev John Carswell paid a fitting tribute, with over 1000 people in attendance.
