Jimmy’s birthday with a difference

Jimmy raised over £3,500 for the Paliative Care Unit in the Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ballymoney. This is the second time he decided to raise money for charity in such a fashion.

Mr Murray’s said his parents were in the Robinson and that the staff looked after them very well.

He added: “For that I am eternally thankful, so I wanted to raise money for the Robinson. I always said, if I made it to my 60th birthday. I would like to raise the money for this reputable charity. And now that I have reached my 65th birthday, I thought I would do so again.”

Recently, James held his birthday party at Broughshane Community Centre. Many of his family and friends attended the party to offer their support. They collected various gifts ranging from teddy bears to electrical goods which were put up for auction on the night.

Also, various musical acts formed part of the entertainment. The Singing Farmer John Watt; Charles O’Hagan, accordion player; Garvagh’s Victor Gregg, Davy Doherty and the MC for the evening Alex Blair. The O’Neill Duo also provided entertainment.

James, together with John Watt also produced a DVD in which they sold numerous copies to raise money for this worthy cause.

The DVD portrays a lively screening of John Watt and Jimmy Murray on their travels around the country on a Massey Ferguson 135. It recounts various lively conversations, breath-taking scenery and music that they experienced on their tractor tour. This DVD was a hot favourite for many who helped to raise money for this worthy cause.

James wants to extend his gratitude to all those who helped him raise the money for the Paliative Unit and to everyone for their kindness and generosity.
