Job creation needed says Councillor McAllister

SINN Féin Glens councillor Noreen McAllister is asking Moyle Council to support her motion by writing to the Minister of Trade and Investment Arlene Foster to bring forward a credible Job Creation Strategy to tackle the issue of high unemployment in Moyle.

Sinn Féin Glens councillor Noreen McAllister says “The North Of Ireland is the second highest in terms of unemployment. Invest NI and other organizations have responsibility for job creation and bringing investment opportunities into Moyle. We need to see a refocusing of efforts on job creation to include not only foreign direct investment but also to helping the small and medium size businesses to develop in terms of export and innovation.

“When the large companies choose to invest here in the North they should also be encouraged to locate their companies in areas of social and economic deprivation such as Moyle and where the long term unemployed and those in most need can have quality of opportunity to access those jobs.

“Educational and training facilities also have a role to play to ensure there is skilled workforce available.

“Creating the conditions where everyone has the same opportunity to get a job and this creates the equal society we are all pledged to deliver.”
