Musgrave Retail Partners (MRPNI), which has the Supervalu franchise, said: “SuperValu Lurgan, Gilpinstown Road, has exited the SuperValu group as retailer Gary McDonald has sold all of his property.

“The SuperValu store was part of a shopping complex with a number of other units also owned by Gary and Musgrave Retail Partners (MRPNI) made the decision not to buy the property as it was not an appropriate opportunity.

“Over recent months Musgrave’s focus has been on purchasing a number of other key sites. This focus will continue in the future with the first of these acquisitions, SuperValu Crossgar, opening this Autumn.”

Henderson Retail said they were delighted they had bought the store: “The store which is due to launch under the EUROSPAR brand, will undergo a refit and will offer a wide range of services including a Paypoint facility, Hot Food & Deli and Butchery.

“The store is now owned by the family run Henderson Group, owners of the SPAR and EUROSPAR franchises in Northern Ireland. This will mark the opening of Henderson Retail’s 34th EUROSPAR store.

“This Supereasy Supermarket, brings with it a wealth of benefits to the local community, in the form of a much larger range of products to choose from, over 6,000 in fact, and comes with the added benefit of lower prices.

“Henderson Retail can also confirm job security for all those currently employed in the store.”
