John gets volunteer role at the NW200

THE North West 200 has been working closely with The Cedar Foundation to provide a volunteer opportunity for Ballymoney man, John Brewster.

John was a keen motorbike rider before he sustained a Brain Injury as a result of a road traffic accident in 2005. He was referred to The Cedar Foundation's Brain Injury Service in Ballymena one year ago.

This service supports people to achieve their goals of work, education & training. As part of this, John was successful in securing a voluntary work role with the NW 200 team. In the run up to the race on Saturday 15th May, John assisted staff in the paddock area to assemble signage, branding and to liaise with the press on site.

John commented: "As a keen biking enthusiast, I have really enjoyed being involved in working behind the scenes at the North West 200. I'd like to thank Cedar for helping me gain this work placement opportunity. I look forward to finding further part time voluntary work with their support."

Laura McManus- Project Co-Ordinator for the North West 200 said: 'We are absolutely delighted to be working with The Cedar Foundation. It's a very worthwhile partnership and we are looking forward to building our relationship. Next year at the North West 200 we hope to welcome many more of Cedar's service users to be volunteers at our event. I hope that John has a really worthwhile experience volunteering for us."
