John McAreavey has tied the knot with Kildare woman Tara Brennan, whom he said had helped him see “the beauty of life again” after the pair met in Dublin in 2013.

His first wife Michaela - the only daughter of Mickey Harte - was brutally murdered in their Mauritius hotel room in January 2011.

The 34-year-old was left devastated following her death, but afterwards spoke of finding happiness again.

And it seems, he has.

The Banbridge man shared a picture of his wedding to fellow accountant Tara, on Facebook on Saturday, but the pair were wed in Kildare earlier in September.

Michaela’s dad, Tyrone manager Mickey Harte, previously said he was “happy” that son-in-law John was able to put his grief behind him.

“John’s a very sound man, he has a great take on life and he carries himself with dignity,” he told TodayFM after news of John’s new love.

“We’re happy for him that he’s been able to move on with his life in view of what he had to endure when he was out there in Mauritius.

“It’s just amazing that he’s such a good strong young man and a solid citizen and carrying on his life to the best he can and we’re very supportive of him doing that.”

John said in the past “Michaela will always be part of his life” and that wherever she is “I know she is happy”.

Mickey Harte has credited the foundation set up in her name with helping him come to terms with his grief at Michaela’s loss.

Despite two arrests, no-one has been convicted of her murder.
