Join CVC’s giving event

Causeway Volunteer Centre has launched an appeal for people to clear out their closets and give local people a real gift in time for Christmas.

The Centre has just joined GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, which encourages people and businesses to give their time, money or voice to charity for one day.

GivingTuesday – December 2, 2014 - will provide a charitable antidote to the pre-Christmas consumer boom, falling directly after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It asks people to follow two of the big pre-Christmas shopping days with a day of doing good, asking them to do one simple charitable act on the day.

“We want to make it really simple for local people to join in,” said Mary McNickle Volunteer Centre Manager.

“We are asking people to donate at least one item that they no longer want to a local charity shop. It’s a good chance to clear out the old and make room for the new; salve your conscious and make affordable goods available to local people.”
