Join special child Ross for Toddle Waddle in Lisburn

A LISBURN mother whose baby son underwent life saving heart surgery has organised a sponsored toddle in aid of the Children's Heartbeat Trust.

Sarah McFarlane, 25, is encouraging people to bring their children to Christ Church Lisburn on Saturday, June 26 for 10 laps around the Church grounds.

"My son Ross was treated for a life threatening heart condition in Clark Clinic, Belfast and underwent open heart surgery when he was only two and a half weeks old. Thankfully, he is now well, but the support we received from Heartbeat during this traumatic time was invaluable," said Sarah.

"As well as providing financial support for Clark Clinic, Heartbeat also provides accommodation for parents of children being treated in the ward, among many other things."

The Hillhall mother added: "The Children's Heartbeat Trust is an independent charity that delivers emotional and practical support to parents and families of children with heart disease in Northern Ireland. They work closely with Clark Clinic at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children to ensure that children with heart disease and their families receive the best care, treatment and support possible.

Children of all ages welcome to take part as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The event starts at noon.

If anyone would like an sponsor form or would like to donate they can contact Sarah on 07597853667 or email [email protected].

Don't worry if your child cannot manage 10 laps - they can drop out and sit in the hall, where refreshments will be served for everyone afterwards.

Although it is a toddle, children of all ages are welcome, however all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
