Join the great big tea party at West Church

WEST Presbyterian Church and neighbouring Ballymena Methodist Church have come together to hold an Open Doors "Great Big Tea Party" in aid of persecuted Christians.

This is part of an event happening all over the United Kingdom and Ireland and which is into its fourth year.

The local tea party is being held on Saturday morning, (June 5) from 10am-12noon in the Craig Hall of West Church.

Grahame Clifford, Open Doors church representative in Ballymena Methodist said: “We are inviting people from all the local churches to come along for a cup of tea or coffee to show support for the 200 million Christians world-wide who are presently suffering persecution simply because of their faith. The morning will provide an excellent opportunity to learn of the situation Christians find themselves in countries such as North Korea, Saudi Arabia or the Maldives.”

Alan Sheppard, from West Church said: “ Last year, the valuable support we received meant Open Doors was able to send a stream of help to fellow persecuted Christians in India, where Hindu extremists go to great lengths to stop the spread of faith in Christ. This year, the support we raise will be sent with urgency to the oppressed Christians of Iran. It is now number two on the World Watch List of the countries where faith can have the most dangerous consequences!”.

At the event people will have the opportunity to find out more about what individual Christians are going through in Iran.

Graham and Alan hope that many people in Ballymena will be able to find a little time in their busy schedule to show support for our persecuted brothers and sisters and join them for the local Great Big tea Party.

You will be most welcome!
