Join the Space Hop challenge

LIBRARIES NI is delighted to announce that libraries across Northern Ireland will be holding events throughout the summer to celebrate this year's Summer Reading Challenge, Space Hop.

Banbridge Library (Scarva Road) is inviting children aged 4-11 to come along and register for the Space Hop and enjoy the following events being held to celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge:

Space Hop Storytime, Wednesday July 21, 10.30-11.15am - cost free, booking essential; Space Hop Storytime, Friday July 23, 11-11.45am - cost free, for ages 4-7, booking essential; Space Hop Craft Session, Friday August 13, 10.30am-12.30pm, cost 2, for ages 8-12, booking essential; Space Hop Storytime, Saturday August 28, 10-10.45am, cost free, for ages 4-7, booking essential; Space Hop Storytime, Saturday August 28, 11.30am-12.15pm, cost free, for ages 4-7, booking essential; Space Hop Presentation, Saturday September 11, 2-3pm, cost free, for ages 8-12, booking essential.

The aim of the Summer Reading Challenge is to read six library books during the summer holidays and each child will advance as they read through three stages - Blast Off, Space Chase and Lunar Landing.

Free resources including foldout sticker charts, glow in the disk wristbands, pencils and spinners will reward each child as they progress. Children completing the Summer Reading Challenge will receive a certificate as well as a voucher for a free DVD loan.

The Summer Reading Challenge is just one of many exciting schemes that Libraries NI is developing to help children love reading. Children age 4–11 are invited to call into any local library and sign up to the ‘Space Hop’ Challenge today! Go to www.librariesni.org.uk
