Joint Dawn service held

MEMBERS of Lisburn Cathedral, First Lisburn and Railway Street Presbyterian churches joined to rejoice in Christ’s resurrection at a ‘Joint Dawn Service’ on Easter Sunday.

The service is normally held in Castle Gardens but due to early morning rain, the service was held in Lisburn Cathedral Church Hall. Evelyn Whyte (First Lisburn Deaconess) led the service and the praise was led my musicians from First Lisburn and Railway Street with David Lamont (Lisburn Cathedral) in charge of the sound desk and amplification. Jonny McGeown (First Lisburn) sang the solo ‘The wonderful cross’. Easter Scripture lessons were read by Jordan Humphries (Railway Street) and Douglas Anderson (First Lisburn), while James Price (Lisburn Cathedral) led the prayers.

In a short Easter address, the Rev Simon Genoe (Lisburn Cathedral Curate Assistant) spoke of the women who came to the tomb and found that the ‘obstacle of the stone’ had been rolled away and explained that similarly the ‘obstacle of sin’ has been rolled away due to Christ’s death and resurrection.

The Rev Brian Gibson (Railway Street) pronounced the blessing and the service was followed by breakfast.
