Joke competition
for a good cause

Soroptimist International of Lurgan have teamed up with the Lurgan Mail to launch a joke competition for schools throughout Lurgan.

Set to benefit from the competition are students in Zambia who will be provided with solar lights to lead them to and from Chilubi Secondary School.

What we’re looking for is the funniest jokes from local school children, the best of which we’ll be publishing in the Lurgan Mail.

President of Lurgan Soroptimist Joanne Harris said: “The beauty about this project is that Camfed have made the decision to absorb any overhead costs so that every penny we raise is spent directly on the lights.

“Our first 100 solar lights were supplied in 2013 and we are due to send our next batch of lights in March 2014. With your help we can achieve our aim of 130 lights for this year.”

The entry requirements are as follows:

Each school can submit a maximum of one double-sided A4 page of jokes.

Entry fee per school is £17.50 (this equates to the cost of one solar light).
