Judge tells Coleraine man he is on his 'last chance'

A COLERAINE man has been warned that he is on his last chance after he found guilty of two breaches of a non-molestation order, North Antrim Magistrates' Court heard.

The court heard that on July 22 last year police were called to the injured party's home after she and her son had received numerous phone calls from her husband, Ron Boreland (38) of Brook Place.

Mr Boreland told his wife that he was coming to the house to get a car after she answered one of the calls. She reminded him that he would be in breach of his non-molestation order if he did.

When police arrived at the house the defendant called a further five times and subsequently officers went and arrested him.

The prosecution added that on September 1 last year police again attended the injured party's house at approximately 12.30am. When they arrived they found the defendant sitting on the doorstep and they arrested him.

Defence said Boreland had two problems, namely accepting the breakdown of his marriage and substance. Court heard that the defendant was now taking matters to sort it out and that he was receiving treatment from the addiction team.

District Judge, Mr Richard Wilson, told the defendant that this was his last chance and that if he didn't wise up he would go to jail.

The magistrate gave Boreland a three month custodial sentence suspended for two years and fined him 300.
