Conal McGivern (31), Foxgrove, Lurgan, was fined £250 for assaulting a constable on October 15 last year. He was also fined £100 for disorderly behaviour.

The court heard that around 10pm in William Street, Lurgan, McGivern, who was drunk, was punching and banging into walls.

When police approached he told them to ‘f—k off’ and kicked a constable on the left leg.

Mr Peter Murphy, representing the defendant, said McGivern clearly had an alcohol problem and realised that.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said it wasn’t the worst incident in the world. She warned if he did not get his alcohol problem under control he would not only spend lengthy terms in custody but he was going to kill himself.
