This was Julian’s first marathon, and raised almost £700 towards the work of Abaana in Uganda.

Over the past 16 years, Abanna based in Bangor has built 10 primary schools across Uganda, with the 11th one due for completion this summer. Abaana currently sponsors 1350 primary/secondary school children.

Abaana also works with children living rough on the streets of Kampala, the capital of Uganda and operate a government registered children’s home, where former street children can be cared for and resume or start their school education.

Julian said, “I am so grateful for all the support from my family and friends and to all those who contributed so generously to the overall total sponsorship raised.”

A spokesperson for Abaana said, “We are so grateful to Julian for all his time, effort and commitment in completing the marathon and raising such an amazing total to help boys and girls living in poverty in Uganda.

“The money raised will help make a genuine and substantial difference to their daily lives.”

Abaana is a local charity, based in Bangor, County Down and works with children living in poverty across Africa, but principally in Uganda.
