Julie, who turned 40 last year when she had her debut novel published, is primed to publish the second book of her adventure trilogy.

Phoebe Wren And The Mystery Of Darken Abbey will be published with Britain’s Next Best Seller publishing house. The book is the sequel to Julie’s debut novel Phoebe Wren And The Vortex Of Light which was released at the end of June last year.

Julie, who works for the family business, Norman Emerson Group, explained how her writing came about: “About 10 years ago my Nanny Peggy said to me that I had a gift for writing that I wasn’t using,” she said.

“My girls were still very young so I didn’t have much opportunity, but I managed to make a start on a book.

“About this time last year I was looking through old documents and I found the chapters I’d started. I said to myself, ‘I’m going to finish this’. It all came together last year.

“I’ve written it with my girls in mind. A lot of fantasy adventure books are about the dark side, so I wanted to bring in some light. This comes from my Christian upbringing though it’s not exclusively a Christian book.”

The books are part of a series of three novels based on the adventures of their central character – 15-year-old Phoebe Wren – who finds herself in the middle of an epic battle between the forces of good and evil.

Julie, who writes as Julie K Timlin, has an honours degree in English from Queen’s University and is a past pupil of Lurgan Girls’ Junior High and Lurgan College. The former English and RE teacher is married to Marty, who painted the image for the first book’s cover, and they have two daughters, Caitlin (13) and Ella (11).
