Julie reaches the top three at global future leader competition

From the initial 14,000 students participating in the country heats of the Global Business Challenge, Julie Niblock along with her team mates from Queen’s University in Belfast made it through to the final 88 participants who represented their countries in the team challenge at the Global Business Challenge Final held in Sri Lanka at the end of July.

Julie was then shortlisted as an individual for the Future Business Leader award and came third out of the final six interviewees. During their interviews the finalists faced rigorous questioning from Andrew Harding, MD, CIMA; Szilard Brenner, Internal Audit Manager, South East Asia, Tesco; and Deepesh Lad of Barclays.

The GBC is the most important student event in CIMA’s calendar as it gives the world an opportunity to discover the business leaders of tomorrow and allows these future leaders an opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage. Prizes are awarded for country teams and to individuals.

Julie who will be taking up a position with IBM in London soon said: “The trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I learnt so much and feel so lucky to have met so many talented people who I will keep in touch with as I embark on my career now.”
