Just 1.3% ofPSNI staffmembers of Orange Order

Just ninety-five Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers are members of the Orange Order, according to the force.

The strength of the PSNI is currently 6,854 regular officers with 468 police officers part-time, giving a total force of 7,322 officers at present.

Thus 1.3 per cent of officers are Orangemen.

The PSNI released the information in response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

Meanwhile, forty-six PSNI officers declared membership of the Royal Black Institution, equating to 0.6 per cent of the force.

Nineteen PSNI officers declared membership of the Apprentice Boys of Derry Association, equating to 0.2 per cent.

And just one PSNI officer declared themselves a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernian (AOH) - 0.01 per cent.
