‘Just bl**dy well do it!’

INDEPENDENT councillor Randal McDonnell says community groups seeking council cash for a link-up should “just bloody well go and do it” rather than seek public funds.

He was speaking as Moyle Council agreed to pay £250 for the link-up involving community associations in Bushmills, Causeway and Dunseverick.

A Moyle Council report said: ‘The three community associations of Bushmills (a single identity group), Causeway and Dunseverick (of mixed backgrounds) are working together to organise an event that will showcase Irish, Scottish, Line and Zumba Dancing and Irish, Scottish and Traditional music using performers from various backgrounds. The event will take place on September 24 2011 and encourages attendance from all backgrounds and ages.

‘The event hopes to promote good relations between the inhabitants of Bushmills, the Causeway, Dunseverick and the greater Moyle area through the building of links between the three community associations and communities.

‘In addition to the performance nature of the event there will also be stands providing information and literature about Irish and Ulster Scots culture and heritage - promoting the similarities and exploring the differences of the two.

‘The project meets criteria promoting mutual understanding; promoting appreciation of cultural diversity and traditions,’ said the Council report.
