Karen’s big in piping

ARMOY lass, Karen McAleese, is certainly making it big in the piping world.

She is pictured here with some members of 152( Ulster) Transport Regiment T.A at an event in the officers mess in Palace Barracks, Holywood.

Karen has also been wearing the Prince William’s Irish Guards Officers tunic which was on display at Carrickfergus where she took part in a parade for the RAF Association.

The parade was led by the RAF Central Band and the Irish Guards (whose piper’s uniform Karen wears as an army cadet piper) Military band (with drums and pipes) were in attendance as were the Army Cadet Corps Of Drums, 152 Transport Regiment, Royal Irish Regiment TA Band along with various others. Karen is currently in Devon with the Army Cadets for the 1st (NI) Btn. ACF annual camp. Karen gets up at 0530hrs to prepare herself to rouse the other cadets by playing reveille.

She is also very proud of the fact that she is “the battalion piper” for 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force, and is keen to encourage existing cadets to take up bagpipes in ACF, and also any new recruits who might be interested to go along to their local detachment and speak with detachment staff.
