The contract builds on the company’s existing relationship with the supermarket with the retailer already listing an extensive range of Cookstown sausages, bacon, cooked meats, gammon and sausage rolls among its products.

Michael McCallion, Asda’s senior buying manager for Northern Ireland and Scotland, said: “We are committed to supporting local suppliers and Cookstown is a great example of a brand that continues to innovate in line with market trends to develop quality local products.

“The Cookstown brand has always been very popular with Asda shoppers and the launch of the new sausage will provide a choice for those consumers who are looking for a healthier local option in the category.”

Trevor Mounstephen, Cookstown account manager, added: “Our ongoing relationship with Asda is great for our business and provides a marketplace for our locally sourced pork. It is very important for pig farmers (locally).”
