Keith Cardwell, the NIFRS Fire Safety Officer for Banbridge highlighted the support that’s currently provided by the Fire & Rescue Service to help ensure that everyone has an effective home fire safety routine.

Councillor John Hanna, Chairman of Banbridge PCSP, commented, “Banbridge PCSP are delighted to work in partnership with Leonard Cheshire Disability to facilitate the delivery of the ‘Be Safe Stay Safe’ project to local community groups.

This event was request and promoted by a community group which ensured a really good turnout, and the opportunity for the PCSP to engage with local people.

It’s also an excellent example of how the organisations who are now designated partners on PCSPs can use events like this to deliver their own complimentary messages.”

Coleen Kennedy of Katebridge Ladies Rural Group, added, “We heard about the ‘Be Safe Stay Safe’ session when the Council’s Home Safety Officer came to give a presentation to the group, and the group felt that getting local residents to think about how practical ways that they could help themselves to be safer was a really good idea.

“The extra information about fire safety in the home was a bonus, and it was a good opportunity to get the men to come along as well.”
