Keep Causeway School open, pleads Trust

The Causeway Memorial School Trust is appealing to NEELB to keep the school at the Giant’s Causeway open another year.

Over that year, the trustees say they would work to find a way to keep the school/museum open long term and to find new ways of using the building for the benefit of the local community.

They are well aware that it is of great architectural interest and steps away from the Giant’s Causeway.

A new board of trustees has been appointed which consists of Charles Macnaghten, great grandson of Lord Macnaghten, Jean MacIntyre, great great grandaughter of Lord Macnaghten and a regular visitor to the Causeway Coast. She is Head of the Department of Culture and the Environment at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln, responsible for the Bachelor of Arts in Heritage Studies and History and Education as well as the Master of Arts in Heritage Education, Alison Eckersley, great great granddaughter of Lord Macnaghten, who works for the Hampshire Probation Service, a regular visitor to the area with an interest in the legacy of the six Runkerry Macnaghten sisters, Paul Layland, Chartered Management Accountant, husband of Mary Macnaghten, another great great granddaughter, who will look out for the financial concerns of the Trust and Jane Macnaghten, wife of Charles who works with him and has fundraising experience.
