Keep safe using the Crumlin Glen

Several large trees have fallen due to the bad weather, causing damage to pathways and steps at the facility.

“The recent bad weather has left damage in its wake throughout the Council area as high winds and heavy rain has softened the ground and toppled trees,” said Sinn Féin Councillor for Crumlin Anne Marie Logue.

“The Glen did not escape.

“Several sizable trees have fallen causing damage to pathways, railings and steps. The worst of the damage is below the Cockle House steps at the bottom of the waterfall where the path and steps were ripped up and the railing smashed to smithereens by a large tree and roots system giving way.

“I appreciate that the Rivers Agency, who I have been in touch with have been prompt to act over the damage and have already removed blockages to paths.

“The glen is still open and many families, walkers, dog owners and runners are still using it.

“It is a fabulous resource and I would urge people accessing the glen not to pass into restricted areas that are cordoned off with red and white tape until these areas are made safe.”
