‘Keep the A&E pressure on’

THE Causeway branch of UNISON is urging the public to continue the fight to save services at the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.

UNISON spokesperson for the Causeway branch Kim Hall said: “It is becoming more apparent that whilst money is being spent on other hospitals such as the new Antrim A+E Department and the new state of the art telepresence doctor in Daisy Hill, Causeway is being left behind.

“The fact that Causeway doesn’t even have the now regarded basic equipment of an MRI scanner is alarming.

“We feel that money needs to be spent to keep Causeway up to the same standard as the other hospitals instead of being left behind and perhaps downgraded because of this.

“UNISON is asking the public to either write a letter about their own personal experience in Causeway A&E and outline how they would get to the nearest hospital if A&E was no longer in Coleraine.

“Address these letters To Whom It May Concern and add your name and address at the top of the letter,” added Kim.

UNISON has a template letter in shops, town halls, placeless of worship and bars which are available to copy.

When returning letters, please send them to Kim Hall, Branch Secretary, UNISON, Causeway Hospital, 4 Newbridge Road, Coleraine BT 52 1HS.
