Keep voting for park!

LURGAN Park has retained its Green Flag Award - and is still in the running for the People Choice Site of the Year Award.

Lurgan Park was one of the first in Ireland to gain the prestigious Green Flag status in 2008 and given the Lurgan 400 celebrations and the Vote for Lurgan Park campaign, Craigavon Borough Council is delighted for all the residents of Lurgan and the wider community.

Lurgan man and Mayor of Craigavon Alderman Stephen Moutray said: “This is fantastic news for Lurgan and all associated with Lurgan. The Green Flag Award Scheme is a means of recognising and rewarding the best green spaces in the UK.

"It’s very apt that we’ve retained this award in this Lurgan’s 400th anniversary year and we are all looking forward to our free concert on September 4 right here in Lurgan Park. Keep that date in your diary free."

Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Ronnie Harkness is understandably delighted and congratulated all the hardworking staff from the Park: “I congratulate each and every one of our staff who work in Lurgan Park. They deserve this accolade and I am very proud for all of them."

The Mayor and Councillor Harkness are also urging people to vote for Lurgan Park as the nation’s favourite Park. The People’s Choice- Site of the Year Award, which closes on August 7, is an annual online vote giving people the power to decide which Green Flag park from a list of more than 1,000 should receive this coveted title.
