Kells & Connor WI ‘bacon’ track for new season!

ALAN Ashenhurst was the guest speaker at Kells & Connor WI’s final meeting prior to their summer break and gave a very interesting and informative talk on his collection of pigs, from toys to ornamental.

A vote of thanks was extended to him by Marbeth Foster followed by the delivery of reports to members on recent WI visits and outings.

The competition for an ornamental pig was won by Jean McKee with Ruby McSeveney second and Marbet Foster, third.

At the September meeting, president Rosemary McAllister welcomed everyone back after the summer holidays and also Rev Neil Cutcliffe who gave members a talk on his bottle collection.

Two members were congratulated for their wedding anniversaries - Mrs Isa Graham who has been married to husband Dickson for 60 years and Mrs Tilly Crawford who has been married to husband Rodger for 50 years.

Anna Murphy and Margaret Mckee were also congratulated for winning various prizes at Ballymena and Antrim Shows while Jill Crockard was congratulated on winning a prize for a two at the WI golf competition.

The competition for An Unusual Bottle was won by Eleanor Worthington, with Elizabeth Brown in second place and Vivien Mawhinney, third.
