Kieran is new Lions President

AT a recent social evening in the pleasant surroundings of Moyola Golf and Country Club, Castledawson the members of Cookstown and Magherafelt Lions Club confirmed the election of Magherafelt man Kieran Fields as President for the incoming lionistic year.

Speaking before the handover outgoing President Emma McCann took the opportunity to thank all the members for supporting her during the past year and accorded her the distinction of being the first female President of Cookstown and Magherafelt Lions Club.

Lion Emma also thanked all who supported the club in several ways resulting in the success of the many events that were organised during the year. Special thanks was extended to those who took part in the all male fashion show to raise the awareness of testicular cancer.

The club was also able to support many organisations which included Kilronan Special School in Magherafelt, Aware Defeat Depression and Mid Ulster Dementia Support Group.

Lion Emma also welcomed the two new members who joined the club in the last year, Lion Judith and Lion Philip.

Lion Emma then presented Lion Kieran with his chain of office and congratulated him on his election as President for the incoming year.

Responding Lion Kieran said he was looking forward to his year as president, he hoped to maintain the high standards of his predecessors as president of Cookstown and Magherafelt Lions Club.

Lion Kieran said he hoped to introduce some new and regular fund raising projects. He also thanked Lion Emma for her hard work during the previous year and for bringing new fundraising concepts and activities to the club.
