Killaloo playpark erased for A6

A PLAYPARK in Killaloo is to be erased in order to make way for the proposed A6 Londonderry to Dungiven dualling scheme although Derry city Council will insist on adequate compensation to fund a replacement.

Department of Regional Development (DRD) Roads Service has written to Derry City council advising of its intention of vesting the land on which the playpark currently stands on the Gulf Road.

Roads Service has advised the local authority it requires three parcels of land - including the Killaloo Park, a small plot on the Clooney Road in Maydown, and a plot in the Kinculbrack townland in the neighbouring Limavady Borough Council area.

Derry City Council agreed to the vesting of the lands “subject to an agreement on the compensation necessary to fund a replacement playground at Killaloo.”
