Kilrea flag not helping: MLA

A DUP MLA has said that a tricolour flag erected in Kilrea last Saturday does ‘nothing to promote good community relations’.

Adrian McQuillan was speaking after the flag appeared at the Diamond as the local Royal Black Lodge gathered for their parade.

He told the Times that work has been going on behind the scenes in a bid to ease tensions in the town.

“Community relations have been very good in Kilrea especially over the Twelfth. I really don’t believe that the culprit is aware of the on-going efforts in the town to foster good community relations.

“This is someone who is just trying to cause trouble. Their actions have disappointed those involved in harbouring good relations.”
