Kilwaughter house project turned down

AN application to build a two-storey replacement house with a detached garage at Kilwaughter has been rejected by planners.

The proposal, lodged by Alan Beattie of Drumnahoe Manor, Larne, was for a development located 140m north-west of access to 49 Deerpark Road.

The Planning Service refused the application on the grounds that “the building to be replaced does not exhibit the essential characteristics of a dwelling”.

It was also determined that the size of the development would have “a visual impact significantly greater than the existing building”.

Finally, planners also felt that the proposal would result in “a detrimental change to the rural character of the countryside”.
