Kind-hearted dog lovers help BARK

BENVARDIN Kennels have thanked the Ballymoney and Moyle Times readers following last week's appeal for kennel sponsors.

The kennels, at the former Safari Park site are no longer run by the USPCA.

Louise McNeill, who managed the kennels for the USPCA, has taken over the running of the well-known facility under the new name, BARK - Benvardin Animal Rescue Kennels.

In last week's Times, we ran an appeal for sponsors for the dog kennels.

Shaun McIntryre from BARK told The Times that following the publication of our article, they were inundated with calls: "On Thursday morning we had nine kennels sponsored.

"We even had a call from a woman in Canada, who had read the article on The Times website," said Shaun. "It's been really amazing, and we can't thank the kind people of the area enough."

There are, however, still a number of kennels needing sponsored.

Shaun explained: "A minimum donation of 100 is asked for. This donation will help with the re-homing of many dogs from Benvardin.

"Sponsors will get a plaque with their name on it put on the kennel, they will also get their details posted on our website and facebook sites.

"Those kind enough to sponsor a kennel should feel proud that they have made a difference to many dogs."
