The kindness of a stranger is what got Dungannon golfer Darren Clarke through a Dublin toll on Monday morning, as the Ryder Cup captain had 'no euro coins in the X5'.

He tweeted just after noon on Monday: “Big thank you to the gentleman who very kindly paid my €1.90 @ the northbound M50 toll station from Dublin this morning. #noeurocoinsintheX5.

But later said: “Sorry, I meant the northbound M1 toll station from Dublin! Ooops....jet lag! Anyway a big thanks to the kind guy again. #homesweethome”
