Kindermusik a huge success

DURING the summer holidays a new music and movement programme with classes for newborns up to seven-year-olds began in the Ballymena area.

Kindermusik is an award winning programme that has had global success.

Kindermusik may be new to Ballymena but after a series of summer and autumn term classes the signs are that it is going to be just as popular here as it has been elsewhere.

Kindermusik has been brought to Ballymena by local musician and private music teacher, Alicia Murphy. She says: “With two children of my own I was keen to find music and arts activities which would aid their development. I was surprised by the lack of such programmes in the area for young children”.

In her search for a programme for her own children, Alicia came across Kindermusik and the opportunity for her to deliver it in the area.

With closer examination of the curriculum it became clear to Alicia why Kindermusik stands out from other programmes and has become a global success.

“Kindermusik is a music-based programme which takes into account the developmental stage of the child, puts together curriculum that is age-appropriate and aims to help the child’s overall development.

“By moving and dancing to music and playing simple instruments, children improve their gross and fine motor skills, their emotional and social skills, literacy skills, reasoning skills and much more. The activities encourage freedom within a fun and friendly structure to spark their creativity, and, of course, develop a lifelong love of music”.

Alicia is currently offering Kindermusik classes for three age groups: 18 months to three-year-olds, three-five year-olds and five to seven year-olds and plans to commence classes for newborn to 18 months in January.

Alicia is so confident that parents and children alike will love the classes that she is offering a free preview class to all readers.
