Kiwis invited to celebrate Waitangi Day at Ballance House lunch event

GLENAVY: Waitangi Day is the national holiday in New Zealand. It is the day when Kiwis commemorate the signing of the Waitangi Treaty in 1840 between the Maori chiefs and the British Crown. This treaty is New Zealand’s founding document.

The Ulster New Zealand Trust have organised a lunch at the Ballance House in Glenavy on Friday 3rd February to mark the event. Ballance House is the birthplace of John Ballance who was New Zealand’s premier between 1891 and 1893.

Kiwis and those with an interest in New Zealand are warmly invited to attend the event. Booking is essential.

A wine reception at 12 noon, lunch at 12.30 and a guest speaker after lunch costs £25.
