Knife robber at Spar: police issue description

Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery at a shop on Castlerock Road, Coleraine, on Tuesday have issued a description of the clothing worn by the suspect.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Melody Kidd, told The Coleraine Times: “Shortly before 11.30pm a male armed with a knife entered the store.

“He reached across the counter and threatened a female member of staff with the knife, demanding money before making off empty-handed.

“The would-be robber is described as wearing a dark hoodie, possibly navy, with an emblem and yellow writing - ‘Franklin & Marshall’.”

He was also wearing a dark coloured baseball cap with white writing on the front and back, faded blue jeans and white trainers.

Detectives believe the suspect may have been in the Hanover Place area prior to the attempted robbery and are asking anyone who may have seen this male, or who could identify him, to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.”
