Knockagh WI stalwart retires

The newly-appointed executive representative, Diane Thompson, welcomed everyone and introduced the guest speaker, Clive Scoular.

Mr Scoular entertained members with biographies of activist, Sadie Patterson, and pioneer aviator Lady Mary Bailey.

The evening continued with reports from Institutes on their yearly activities.

The presentation of awards for baking, crafts and drama productions took place, followed by a medley of music and poetry from Templepatrick.

A presentation was made to Margaret Stokes, who is retiring after six years as area representative.

After a vote of thanks by Valerie Welch of Glengormley, the evening concluded with the singing of A Countrywoman’s Song.
