Knuckle duster allegation

A LOUGHGIEL man has been charged with having an offensive weapon - a knuckle duster - in the North Street area of Ballycastle on the weekend before the Lammas Fair.

Christopher Martin Laverty (33), of Shelton Road, is alleged to have committed the offence on Saturday August 27.

A police officer told Coleraine Magistrates Court she believed she could connect the accused to the charge.

The accused was not present for the case on September 19 and District Judge Liam McNally said if he was not there at the next hearing an arrest warrant would be issued.
