Kyle’s gets to the ‘art’ of emotion

COOKSTOWN artist Kyle Barnes is displaying his latest work at the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre.

The talented 26-year-old has three large paintings depicting the emotions of three individuals on display until the end of this week. Each of Kyle’s paintings has taken him a painstaking two to three weeks to complete, such is the finer detail inherent in them.

Kyle has a studio at Orritor Road, Cookstown, where he teaches a Monday night class.

His work questions our perception of beauty and persuades us to look further than the notion of aesthetic quality. He focuses on familiarity, security, nostalgia and daily relationships.

Kyle graduated in 2010 and since then he has won the Towry prize at the National Open Art Competition, exhibited at the prestigious Pallant House Gallery in Chichester and the RUA in Belfast.
