Ladies Day at Loughs Agency

The event aims to encourage ladies to get into the sport of angling through hands-on participation.

During the day participants will be professionally coached by qualified instructors covering how to cast a line, catch and unhook a fish and some basic health and safety.

There will also be workshops on tying flies and how to prepare caught fish for cooking.

Gillian Simpson from Loughs Agency said: “A recent review of Angling in Northern Ireland found that were barriers to women accessing the sport.

“This event aims to break down those barriers and give women and girls the opportunity to learn the basics of the sport so that they can consider it as a potential hobby or pastime.

“As well as the competitive nature of the sport, it also has health benefits through the opportunity to relax and unwind and be outdoors.”

The sessions last for approx. 1 hour and 30 mins and there are 3 sessions on Saturday.

There’s limited availability, so booking is essential.
