Lady Of The Lough heats up

THE Lady of the Lough competition, now in its fourth year, has raised over £170,000 for the Charis Integrated Cancer care house at Lough Fea.

Charis is a haven and retreat for men and women who have been diagnosed with cancer, their family and supporters. It provides free therapies including counselling, body therapies (including reflexology and massage), professional dietary advice, financial and benefits advice.

This is all available in a non clinical homely setting and Charis not only treats the cancer patient but their next of kin who are often overlooked.

This service is financed through donations and charity events and Lady of the Lough has become one of its biggest annual fundraising events making it a very important competition.

Not only has Lady of the Lough played a key role in fundraising for the charity but has also created awareness of the charity which has over 1050 clients.

This year 12 ladies are representing their local pub/restaurant, each campaigning to raise the most amount of money in an eight week period. The lady with the most money will be crowned Lady of the Lough 2012.

Each Lady along with her sponsor has organised upcoming events both in and out of their local establishment.
