Laganview Enterprise Centrecelebrates fourth birthday

LAGANVIEW Enterprise Centre recently celebrated its fourth year in operation.

On April 24, 2008 the centre was officially opened by Alderman Paul Porter and the children of Raggety Bap. The opening in 2008 was the culmination of fourteen years of intensive work by Old Warren community volunteers who had to convince funders and agencies of the viability of the proposed multi-purpose structure.

The centre received a cocktail of funding from Lisburn City Council, The International Fund for Ireland, The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and The Northern Ireland Housing Executive granted the land on which the centre now stands. As a social economy, not-for-profit organisation, the centre is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, each bringing experience, ability and commitment to the Centre to ensure its professional management while adhering to the principles and ethos of Social Economy Enterprises. The Board believes that the success of the Centre will further enhance the prospects of further regeneration and community development activities within the estate and its environs. Over the past four years, the centre has very much become the focal point for the local community.
