Lana, lost her baby son Leo after he contracted meningitis - he was just two and a half years old when he died in March 2010.

Alongside Mrs. Dobson Lana took to the streets of Donacloney recently to knock on the doors to gain support for a life-saving vaccine to be made available for all children in Northern Ireland.

Commenting Mrs Dobson said: “Lana is truly amazing.

“She is an inspirational mother who is absolutely determined to raise awareness and funds to tackle this life threatening disease.

“As her MLA and friend it has been my honour to stand shoulder to shoulder with Lana and her family over the last four years as we are absolutely determined to see this issue through and the support of so many people means so much.

“The reception which we received on the doorsteps in Donacloney was terrific and we send our grateful thanks to all those who signed the petition and who have helped to increase the pressure for this life-saving vaccine to be made available in Northern Ireland.”

The petition is available to sign in Mrs Dobson’s Banbridge constituency office and in the UUP Advice Centre.
