Larne AA group marks 40years

To mark the occasion, a public information evening will be held in Gloucester Day Centre, Gloucester Avenue, Larne at 3pm on Sunday, February 21.

There will be four presentations, comprising two AA speakers, one Al-Anon speaker and a member of the medical profession, who will give their views and personal experiences on alcoholism.

AA is emphasising that alcoholism crosses social, economic, age and gender boundaries.

In Co Antrim, there are 22 Alcoholics Anonymous groups, which means there is a meeting available for anyone who thinks they may have a problem on any day of the week.

The AA advises that attending a public information meeting, or an open meeting, is the best possible way to get a feel for the form and dynamics of the organisation.

It is also an opportunity for the general public, friends and family to ask questions and listen to the experience and hope given by AA.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting and a light finger buffet and tea and coffee will be supplied.
