Larne and Inver's F1 fun

PUPILS from a Larne primary school have enjoyed success in a prestigious national Formula One competition.

The Formula One In Schools challenge, organised in Northern Ireland by the five education and library boards, took place at Cultra and involved pupils from across the Province.

The scheme aims to change perceptions of engineering, science and technology by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people.

Larne and Inver Primary entered three teams in the competition - the Inver Trolls, Larne Legends and the Inver Racers. Each team designed their own car, t-shirts and contacted local firms to secure sponsorship. All three teams finished in the top half of the competition results table.

The teams would like to thank David Aicken from JS Workwear at LEDCOM, who printed and supplied the t-shirts. They also thank the Port of Larne, Howden’s Oil and Coal, Wilson’s supermarkets, Subway Larne and G-Mac tyres, who all kindly donated money to cover travel and materials.
