He was brought up in a Christian home where he was regularly taught the Bible.

It was as a teenager that he committed himself to Jesus Christ when, in his own words, “seeing my sin I knew that I was not right before God.  I then trusted in Jesus Christ to be my rescuer and King”.

Simon spent two years in Peru working with Baptist missions, after which he enrolled to study at the Irish Baptist College.

After completing a three-year course, Simon worked as a pastoral assistant in Bangor.

He married Shirley in 2014, and the pair moved to Larne during the summer.

Pastor John Gault said: “They now look forward to getting to know the church and the community.”
