Larne borough counts down to Christmas

Larne is counting down to Christmas with a programme of festive events.

On Friday, (December 5), the U105 Roadshow will be broadcasting from Broadway, hosted by Frank Mitchell, from 2.00pm until 4.00pm.

The winner of “Larne’s Win the Window” competition will be announced during the show.

On Saturday, (December 6)there will be a Christmas market at Larne Market Yard, from 10.30 am until 3.30 pm, when there will be more than 30 stalls selling crafts and gifts.There will be live music and refreshments and a visit from Santa.

His reindeer will be providing sleigh rides at the market yard.

This week, the borough will be switching on to Christmas.

This will take place on Wednesday night (December 3), at Gleno Parish Hall and at Glynn Village Hall, at 7.00 pm.

This afternoon, Thursday December 4, Christmas lights will be switched on in Islandmagee, at Duff’s Corner, at 4.30 pm with ceremonies at the village green in Ballycarry and Cairncastle, at 7.00 pm.

On Friday December 5, the switch-on will take place at Carnlough Harbour at 7.00 pm.

On Monday December 8, the switch-on will take place at the community office in Glenarm, at 7.00pm; Wednesday December 10, Curran Road, at 6.30 pm and Sallagh Park green, at 7.00 pm; Thursday December 11, Larne Community Care Centre, at 7.00 pm; Friday December 12, Greenland Drive, 6.00 pm; Linn Community Centre, 7.00 pm.

There will also be an opportunity to hear performances by schoolchildren at Broadway.

On Tuesday December 9, it will be the turn of Linn and St Anthony’s primary schools, at 10.30 am; Thursday December 11, Cairncastle Primary, 11.00 am; Moyle Primary, 2.00 pm.

On Friday December 12, Carnalbanagh Primary, 10.00 am; Toreagh, 11.00 am; Larne and Inver, 2.15 pm.

On December 15, Corran Primary, 10.45 am; December 17, Seaview Primary, 11.00 am; December 18, Olderfleet and St. MacNissi’s, 9.30 am; Mullaghdubh, 1.15 pm; December 19, Glynn Primary, 11.00 am.
